Montessori / IKEA Kura Floor / Four Poster Bed
Sep 9th, 2021 at 14:14 Services London 133 viewsWe made this floor bed for my daughter out of an IKEA Kura bed frame. This was doctored into this format to suit the Montessori philosophy that I'm into - allowing the child to climb in and out of the bed as they please. I had intended to paint and add the roof to make this into a house bed but that never materialised!
The size is a bit longer than a standard single so you'd need to buy a mattress and bedding from IKEA to fit perfectly. I bought a regular single mattress and just stuffed pillows at the end.
We don't have the parts to turn this into a bunk bed, however if you call IKEA they will send you the pack of parts for free.
Only selling as want to make more space in the room and get a smaller/toddler bed instead. However it is perfect for a little one who likes lots of room to wriggle around in their sleep! Out daughter mostly sleeps in our room so it's in great condition. The only thing to note is, because it's an IKEA hack, the posts may have some holes visible (see photos). You may be able to turn these the other way when you put back together.
Please see IKEA website for measurements and search 'kura bed' for full measurements.
Buyer needs to dismantle and transport/collect from East Dulwich. This won't fit through the door so the best thing will be to take the sides and four poster off.
