This car was category N due to the front bumper being damaged so we had this replaced and painted at a local car body repair centre. This shouldn’t effect you when you come to insuring the vehicle and it doesn’t effect the way that the vehicle drives.

About Us:
Our business was established in August 2011 and we specialise in selling used cars at great prices. Most of our cars but not all are either category C or D (if no category is stated above then the car is uncategorised and therefore HPI clear) which means the car has had accident damage which is only usually minor dents and scrapes but an insurance company deems them not worthy of being repaired. We then purchase the vehicle and take it to a professional body shop for repair. We can then sell them for lower than retail prices but they are still in as good as condition if not better in some cases than other used cars on the market.

Categories Explained:
As an example, a Cat D write-off could be a dent on a ten year old car worth £1,000. Insurers are bound to go through official repair channels. On older cars this can be expensive and so the price of a new door to the insurer would be £800. As the list price of the car is so low, the insurer decides it's uneconomical to carry out the repair and writes the car off. However, a private buyer could very easily salvage a door from a scrap vehicle for, say, £50, and fit it themselves. The car can then be sold on, provided it's clearly noted as a Cat D write-off.
An example of a Cat C write-off would be a car worth £1,000 with a dent that costs £1,200 to fix for an insurance company but a private buyer could use a trusted independent garage which would cost less than a insurance approved one but can still carry out the same level of work. Also an insurance company has to take into account time taken for the repair, a hire car for the customer and other factors that could cost them more money.

Category S and N explained:
Only recently have a DVSA brought in Category S and Category N which are very similar to how C and D work but have just been worded differently. Category S stands for structural damage and N stands for non-structural. Structural can mean things like the vehicle will need a new door or tailgate and these panels are classed as structural parts of the car. Non-structural can mean damage as light as just a scratch. We can usually get the photos of the damage prior to repair for you to view at request and this shows how minor some of the damages actually are.

MOT:
All cars will have a full MOT upon purchase unless stated otherwise. All cars receive a top up of screenwash, antifreeze, oil and tyre pressures checked prior to sale.
